What Does A Fibrotic Mass And Nodule In The Breast Indicate?
hello dr I m 51 years old woman, during a routine check up in a mammography has found that there is a fibrotic mass and a nodule in my breast, dr refer me to Breast USG, still the mass diagnosed in my breast, but they told me there is no any problem with this masses, even though I have a family history of Brest cancer( my sister), I don t know there is need for any biopsy or not or how long I to be waiting for next exam, there is need for any other mammogram or USG is enough?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
No, this is not true. You are need to evaluate each and every breast mass for breast cancer. And you are having strong positive family history with age of 51 years. So you are should definitely rule out breast cancer first. So excision biopsy of breast mass is must. If it turn out to be benign then annual follow up with mammography is needed. If this turns out to be malignant then you will need mastectomy. So get done excision biopsy first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
