What Does A Flap Of Skin Under The Tongue Suggest?
I have a flap of skin under my tongue. It s at the bottom of my mouth on the left. It doesn t really hurt, but it s annoying. I woke up one morning and it was there, it s not a bump, it has an edge at the top. A flap basically. I ve had it for about a week and a half now. Not sure what it is.
Thanks for your query .The condition you describe in query occur in oral cavity due to irritation of mucosa or as a result of injury to it .These are called skin tags or more accurately plica fimbriata. Some times they are painful in initially but later become painless.
I would suggest you to visit dentist for proper evaluation .he/she may order biopsy to rule out any malignant growth .
The large flaps will be treated surgically under local anesthesia and small flaps left as such if they are harmless.
For now what you can do is apply honey to it twice a day and start taking supplement containing Vitamin B12.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
