What Does A Flap Under The Tongue After Frenuloplasty Of Tongue Suggest?
My son had a frenulopasty done for his tongue tie 5 days ago. He is finally at a tolerable pain level enough to eat. However, when taking a peek at it tonight, I noticed a flap underneath his tongue, possibly attached to the bottom of his gums/mouth. Do you think the stitches fell out too early? Is it supposed to do this?
As per your complain if you have seen a small mucosal flap present under the tongue near the gums after a frenuloplasty procedure it can be due to any small piece of mucosa left attached to the gums while the lingual frenulum must be incised..
It can also be a mucosal tag formed due to trauma caused during the surgical procedure..
In case if it due to falling off the any of the stitch then you need to get it evaluated although due to good blood supply of the mouth the healing will take place but to prevent any infections you should get a checkup done..
In case the pain is reducing that shows healing is taking place and there will be nothing serious..
Hope this information helps..
