Hello,
I would like to ask you to do these tests firstly:
1. MRI of the right foot
2.
Electromyography (EMG)
3.
Nerve conduction studies
Meanwhile, you can do the following:
1. Hot wet compress.
2. A brace on your ankle and foot or
splint that fits into your shoe can help hold your foot in a normal position.
3.
Physical therapy. Exercises that strengthen your leg muscles and help you maintain the range of motion in your knee and ankle might improve gait problems associated with
foot drop.
Stretching exercises are particularly important to prevent the
stiffness in the heel.
4. Start an antibiotic
Clarithromycin: 250 mg orally every 12 hours for 7 days.
If it becomes severe or do not subsides, then you can go for this:
Aspiration and injection.
This strategy includes draining the fluid then injecting a
steroid medication into the mass.
More than one session might be required. Although this technique is successful in some cases, in numerous others, the cyst returns.
I would like to know:
1. is there itching, redness?
2. since when it started?
3. do have a feverish feel?
You can do the above points and please without delay, do the test. Post the test result and answers, any doctor here at HCM can follow you up.
Do not worry, you are under treatment. HCM has very good doctors.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
