Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hard knot on front of ankle right above foot below shin. It is painful at times, I did have problems with tendinitis and inflammation of muscle sheath from big toe up the front of my foot and up the front of my leg to top of shin about 3 months ago. What could this be? Should I see a Dr ?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A hard knot above ankle and below shin can be due to tendinitis. Since, the knot is associated with pain, there is a possibility of tendinitis. Consultation with a doctor is required for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. In case the knot is due to tendinitis, rest, pain killer and anti-inflammatory drugs will help. A painful knot on the foot can be due to bony growth also, although this is not a favored site for bony growths. Clinical assessment is required for further management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
