What Does A Hard Lump On The Face Indicate?

I have a hard lump on face near ear and and swollen type lump on neck near jaw line all on the same side of face. Went to a dr and they said possibly lympnoids (sp), and prescribed chephalex (sp) two tabs twice a day for ten days I have been taking them and today make day four of the meds. swelling is not going down. Is this typical. Very concerned. Neck sore. Please advise.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of hard lump on the face neck near jaw line which is mainly due to enlarged lymph node and it could be due to submandibular salivary gland enlargement and salivary stone.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get few diagnostic examination such as you should go for fine needle aspiration cytology or biopsy of that lump to find out exact cause and to rule out any underlying cyst or tumor. Once proper diagnosis is made start treatment accordingly. If it is due to lymph node infection then proper course of antibiotics will be best line line of treatment and salivary gland enlargement it can be removed by manual digital palpation method and can be done surgically as well. Chew o citrus substances and drink alot water.Maintain proper hygiene.
