What Does A Knot Under The Chin Indicate?

I have a swollen "knot" under the left side of my chin, it hurts when I eat or drink, and my face on that side is swollen. The "knot" is hard, and when I swallow it feels like I ate something sour, and get that "catch." Is it something I should see a doc about?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain swollen knot under the chin that is painful and swollen face on the same side can be due to causes like:
1.Any deeply decayed tooth causing swelling, pain. Lymph node enlargement..

2.Swelling in the submandibular salivary gland due to infection or obstruction in its duct by stones or foreign body..

But confirmation can be made to after a clinical examination and investigations like x ray..

In case of tooth related swelling treatment of tooth followed by antibiotics and painkillers can help..

In case of salivary gland disorder treatment will depend on cause..

As for now take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and do cool compresses over swelling..

Take soft diet..
