What Does A Large Lump In The Breast Indicate?

my great friend found a large lump in her breast (just had a mammo in mid september and showed nothing). a core biopsy was done and they told her it was normal breast tissue but still requested she have an mri. her mri showed there are is a big mass and a smaller one behind it and it is a malignancy. they are doing a surgical biopsy the 14th but she is nervous that it is changing shape and texture and is petrified it will spread before she has a mastectomy. is there a risk of it spreading while she waits?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

No, there is no such risk since metastases dont happen in few day or weeks, but more time is required for this and if this didnt metastasized by now then it can be cured with surgery. But you cant know that since small malignant cells cant be detected with imaging tests. So you cant change this disease now and biopsy will show if tumor has spread to axillar lymph nodes and then further management can be planned.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
