What Does A Large Mass In The Anus Indicate?

Yesterday I noticed that I had a large mass beneath the skin kind of in between my butt cheek and anus (not tailbone). It's not a hemorroid....I've had the pleasure! There is no color, no discharge and really no pain. If i press on it, it's a bit uncomfortable. It's rather hard and about 2 inches across. Feels like a large knot...any ideas?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that a tender large lump near the anus that does not bleed but is uncomfortable and tender to touch, seems most probably be due to formation of a Perianal abscess that has not yet started draining..

As it is in between your butt cheek and anus and not at the anal opening it is probably not hemorrhoid..

It occurs most commonly due to hairfollicle infection while other causes can be infected gland in the area or infection in the skin leading to pus formation under the skin..

I would suggest you to consult a Proctologist or Anorectal surgeon or you can even see a general surgeon and get evaluated.

He can advise you a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller and topical application of antibiotic, steroid and numbing ointment..
Do warm compresses as it can ease in draining it off..
If it does not improve or start worsening then Incision and Drainage can help in faster resolution..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
