What Does A Large Purple Bruise On The Elbow Indicate?

Hi, I have a large purple bruise in the elbow area with a white spot that looks like an insect bite. I did not fall or hit my are so was shocked to see this bruise. I was outside the other night for 2 hours with lots of bugs flying around biting. The bruise does not hurt. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Most probably the inflammatory reaction following a bug bite, which can show up without pain or discomfort.

Initial help with ice sponging and later on a definite prescription of antibiotic as cephalexin and anti-inflammatory drugs with proteolytic enzymes as serratiopeptidase is mandatory to recover faster and avoid secondary infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
