Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have a round, rubbery, pea sized lump 4 inches above my nipple or in my upper chest. I m a male 18. I ve had it for 4 years it hasn t grown it just annoys me sometimes if something pushes on it hard. My doctor told me it was a benign cyst by feeling it 3 years ago. Should I be worried or could it be cancer?
You are a 18 yr old male and are worried for a lump above the nipple. You are suggested to get it clinically examined by a GP or Oncologist or in ER. Lumps above the nipple or in the breast tissue may be indicative of a cyst, benign tumor, gynecomastia, cancer, etc. You will have to get blood works, imaging tests and required investigations and biopsy done. The treatment will depend on the pathology detected.
Treatment will be given by medicines, excision (if cyst) is detected or surgery if required. If hormone imbalance is detected you will be treated accordingly. No worries. You should not neglect yourself , get examined and treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
