Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi i recently had a cyst on the top left of my upper bum crack. My GP sent me away with antibiotics which worked wonders. a few weeks have now passed but i can feel a hard, fairly narrow, lump in the same general are. Basically bone like but not noticed on the other side of bum crack i can t recall if it has always been there as only noticeable when i feel for it when bending over
It seems that a cyst on the top of bum crack seems to be most probably due to formation of Pilonidal cyst or Pilonidal Abscess and it can occur due to causes like traumatic injury to tailbone area, ingrown hairs, infection in the area etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Proctologist or a General Surgeon and get evaluated and a clinical examination is generally sufficient and if required x ray can also be advised..
In case of Pilonidal abscess you can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and cool compresses over the area..
You can also be advised Incision and Drainage in case of abscess and Marsupialization or Enucleation in case of Cyst..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora, Dentist
