What Does A Lump Behind An Implanon Implant Indicate?
I have had a new implanon inserted for about 6 weeks and it is the third implant as every three years I have a new one inserted. I ve never had a complication except for this one I have pain and a small lump behind the implanon. What is causing this and do I need a doctor?
A single IMPLANON implant is inserted subdermally in the upper arm. To reduce the risk of neural or vascular injury, the implant should be inserted at the inner side of the non-dominant upper arm about 8-10 cm (3-4 inches) above the medial epicondyle of the humerus.
Yes, you need to show the lump to the doctor . • may be Implanon is not rightly placed. Pain at the site of insertion is a common side effect but lump at the site is unusual so seek a nearby doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
