What Does A Lump Behind The Neck Indicate?

Have a marble sized lump near where my neck and skull line meat. It s pretty firm but kind of moves. It s an aching pain. I just went to a doctor last Thursday (didn t have lump at that time, just appeared last night) they said I had sinusitis and gave me Azithromycin which I completed taking on Monday. I am also waiting back on chest xrays as I ve had pneumonia twice in my life so they just want to be safe.

Hello,

Since, when are you suffering from lump in the nape of the neck?

If it is acute, then the possibilities are of boils or furuncle or lymph node enlargement et cetera. If it is chronic, then possible causes are lipoma or dermoid cyst et cetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
