What Does A Lump Between Hip And Lower Ribs Suggest?
Hi there. I am 40 years of age, Female and fairly good shape. 5 3, approx 122-125 lbs. Over a year ago I felt this bit of a bump on my right side between my hip and my lower rib. It is hard but doesn t move around, only when I flex from side to side it does. It feels a little smaller than a ping pong ball but more oval. It felt bruised the other day when I went to the doctor as I suddenly felt that this area of concern was now giving me some signs. Maybe it feels bruised because I have been touching it so much lately to see if I can figure out if it is attached or floating, but I can t. I just had an X-ray done and my doctor left for holidays, but her assistant said the x-ray came back and there is something there but they need to have an ultrasound to see what it may be. Any ideas. Not that it may be contributed, but I did notice some tingling and the odd fuzzy ache in my right arms...but I attributed that to my job and on the computer quite a lot. Thank you and take care. Marie
The commonest causes I can think about are as follows: * Lipoma * Sebaceous cyst * Hernia * Muscular lump like desmoid tumor
This can surely diagnosed well with an ultrasound which is the best investigations to know about the lump. FNAC helps further. Clinical examination and correlation with investigations. Excision biopsy if this is lipoma or such lump. Mesh repair if hernia. Go for surgery as this helps in removal of a lump which is not a normal body structure and also help confirmation about the diagnosis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
