What Does A Lump In Vagina Indicate?

Hi there, Okay, so I m a 21 year old female and for all of today I ve experienced a strange sort of pain when I wipe myself after urinating. I decided to check it out and discovered a small lump just to the left of my cliterus. It s only painful when I touch it really and it s not visible even when the skin is stretched. Also it moves when pressure is applied. I noticed another woman wrote a similar problem to you only in your reply you asked for things like; any similar problems in the armpit and such. Well, back in October, I had a boil like lump on my armpit that, to be honest, hurt like hell for a few days but completely died down after those few days, but the lump painlessly stuck around until very recently. I m not going to lie, I m panicking a little and I m kind of scared to talk to anyone about it or visit my GP. I know that probably sounds stupid but that s how I am. Can you help me?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
A painful lump in the region left to clitoris can be due to infection and inflammation of the glands in the vaginal introitus.
A clinical assessment is mandatory.
You can consult your primary healthcare provider or gynaecologist for clinical assessment of the lesion.
In case the lump appears to be infectious in origin, it has to be excised and antibiotics have to be started.
In case there is associated vaginal discharge, you need to get the discharge examined also for any infectious agent.
In the meanwhile you can take painkiller for the pain.

Thanks and take care
Dr Shailja Puri
