hi, a few days ago i woke up with a lump in my inner thigh by my underwear line it is a little painful when my undies rub against it and now im getting it on the other side right across..! so i tried poping it but nothing came out only a little blood its to painful to keep trying to pop it what should i do ???
Lump on the inner side of the thigh is usually due to skin infection by staphylococcus aureus (boil / furuncle). This bacteria proliferates in the moist, warm areas of the skin (underwear line). You are suggested to take care of hygiene, keep the area dry & clean. Wear cotton clothes. Do not scratch, do not try to pop it. Infection can be controlled by a course of amoxicillin. Apply ointment like Bactrim or Bactroban in the area affected. For relieve from pain you are suggested to take Acetaminophen (tylenol), one SOS when required. However, get clinically examined by a GP, if it is an abscess, it will have to be drained out at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
