What Does A Lump On The Elbow Indicate?

I have a lump a bit larger than a pea in the crease of my right elbow below the elbow joint. I noticed it a couple of months ago but it has recently become very sore? Any ideas? It s not in the joint rather just under the skin and has a slight red/purple color to it.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I will try to help you as much as I can.
It is most likely a condition called bursitis which ma be caused by trauma or by any other irritation of cubital bursa, a small fat pad in elbow. At this point your should rest with elbow, apply ice, take nonsteroid painkilllers and elevate your arm and put elastic compress. . It should lead to symptom improvement within 12 hours. Later,if there is no improvement, it would be advisable to do xrays and see if fracture exist. Also, hematoma or seroma accumulation may persist and then elbow punction and fluid evacuation should be done by doctor.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you good health.
