Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Over the last two days I developed a lump on my left Jawbone.pain is now radiating down into my upper chest and face and ear. The dentist thought it may be caused by a gum infection and gave me a rinse to use but it is getting worse. The lump is about half an inch wide, painful to the touch, and getting larger. I am wondering if I should go to the or wait until the morning until urgent care offices are open. Pain level 4-5 woke me up and I m feeling a bit queasy.
So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated, an x ray of the swollen area should be done to rule out the exact cause of the swelling..
In case of infection in lymph nodes, you can be advised antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Advil and cool compresses..
If it is due to tooth infection then antibiotics and pain killers can be advised followed by treatment of the tooth..
For now you can take anti inflammatory pain killers like Advil or Aleve and start icing the swelling..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
