What Does A Lump On The Neck Of An Infant Indicate?
I have a 21 month old granddaughter. She has extremely stiff neck muscles all of the time. When I was massaging her neck this evening I felt a small round nodule below the surface of the skin. It did not feel as though it was attached anywhere. Is this something we should be concerned about? Her other symptoms include frequent ear infections and delayed verbal skills though her gross and fine motor skills are advanced and her receptive language skills are fine.
your child has a stiff or sore neck but no fever or other symptoms:
apply a warm moist cloth to the neck give acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain
swelling may be due to ear infection. it will disappear when infection gone.
your daughter may suffer with chronic otitis media with effusion.
Chronic otitis media with effusion (COME) happens when fluid remains in the middle ear for a long time or returns over and over again, even though there is no infection. COME makes it harder for children to fight new infections and also can affect their hearing.
I advice you to consult with ENT specialist and he will do the needful for your daughter ear infection
prescribe an antibiotic, such as amoxicillin, to be taken over seven to 10 days.
over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, or eardrops, to help with pain
