What Does A Lump On The Shin Indicate?

Hello, I am on holiday in Malaysia and had an incident with a jet ski. As I was getting on a massive wave hit and the jet ski hit my shin. I have a golf ball size lump on my shin and the skin is broken. I have been to the local doctor, received a tetanus and antibiotics and he has strapped the shin for the severe swelling. I am due to fly for a long period of time tomorrow and I am unsure when I should take off the strapping? Also what I should be doing...show I be moving as much as possible to prevent further swelling? Or rest?

General Surgeon 's  Response
You probably have an hematoma due to the trauma. The doctor has strapped the area to resolve the hematoma faster. You must take rest, as much as is possible. Please avoid all strain to the leg. If the swelling persists, or you start to experiencing pain, then to rule out a fracture, please do get an X Ray of the bone. Required advise can be given by an Orthopedic surgeon.
