Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Recently gave like 10 seconds of oral sex and now three weeks later I have this lump on my left tonsil , mind you I had a cold recently and my tonsils are swollen but I am freaking out it might be oral hpv. The lump has little white and red dots and kinda feels like something stuck in my throat. No pain at all. I’m very inexperienced in sex I’ve only been with one guy once. Given oral sex to three guys in the course of 7 years counting this guy which I literally only gave 10-15 secs of oral sex to. Freaking out. I’m 22 female.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
From your explanation it seems like infection in throat leading to Tonsillitis and less chances of it being due to any other cause. HPV generally has a latent period between 3 week to 8 months. So my suggestion is to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. There is a possibility of it being Tonsillitis however a throat swab culture can help in diagnosis. For now do warm saline gargles and antiseptic mouthwash gargles. Take anti inflammatory painkillers like Advil. If bacterial infection is confirmed antibiotics can be advised..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
