Hello,
I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from a salivary stone in the sublingual or
submandibular gland. When we eat food, salivary glands are stimulated to produce saliva to aid in chewing. When stone is present in the salivary gland, stimulation of the gland typically makes the gland swell up. In addition, the swellings are not painful. If it was an
abscess, it would have increased in size by hot rinses.
The stone is like any other stone that develops in the
kidney or tonsils. However, its removal is advised as its persistence may cause discomfort and other complications in future regarding the salivary gland.
I would advise you to visit a
dentist or oral & maxillofacial surgeon. The presence of the stone can be confirmed by x-ray and its removal method can be decided based on the exact location of stone within the gland, its size etc.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
