Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr., I went to see the dermatologist today about a growth/mole behind my right ear. The dermatologist told me to schedule for a procedure I his office to remove it. The mole was there for a very long time but has expanded recently for some reason. Does this sound like the right next step. Hello dear friend..Your doctor has taken a right decision to remove the mole and examine it under the microscope. A mole is a concern if it a) increase in size (>6mm) b) change in colour c)change in shape d)change in thickness e)any new pigmented areas appear around an already existing mole(satellite lesions) f)tingling sensation/discharge from mole/itching over the mole Since you have mentioned an increase in size, it is always better to remove and be on a safer side.
