What Does A Painful Cyst On The Buttocks Indicate?

I believe I have a serious cyst on my buttocks. I wore a tight pair (too tight) pair of jeans the other day, then it felt like because of the rubbing, I had gotten an ingrown hair. I tried to squeeze it and some pus came out of a follical, but today, a portion of my butt (maybe 4 )is swollen, red and hard, like I can feel a cyst under the skin. I have used triple antibiotic ointment, but it doesn t seem to be getting better. I have also shaved in that area, which I normally don t. What might have started as an ingrown hair has now blossomed into a very painful area. It hurts to sit and even walk.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to foruncle. It is an infection of the hair follicle. I suggest you to wash frequently the area with antibacterial soap. I also recommend to apply an antibiotic ointment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
