What Does A Painful Lump Behind The Molar Tooth Indicate?

Hi, I had an upper respiratory virus all last week. Was just about over it and yesterday developed a painful lump behind my last molar on right side. Also have soreness in soft tissue between tongue and teeth on right side. I have no fever and had no fever with the virus. Have been swishing/gargling w/ warm salt water. Any other suggestions?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that lump behind last molar with soft tissue inflammation between tongue and teeth can be due to inflammation at the wisdom tooth site if you do not have wisdom tooth erupted completely by now..
Secondly it can also be due to any traumatic injury caused by any hard foods or infection in gums in that area..
It seems to be less probably related to cold and is most probably related to impacted wisdom tooth..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray will help in diagnosis and treatment will be done accordingly..
As of now you should gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine, do warm saline gargles and do antiseptic mouthwash gargles..
Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Take a soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
