Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does A Painful Lump On The Lower Leg Indicate?
I have had a very sensitive sore spot on my lower leg that is warm to the touch and a small knot. I am concerned about a blood clot; however, do not have any other health problems other than being overweight. I am 34 years old, active and otherwise healthy--weight 230. What do you recommend?
A blood clot is possible, but if you are able to feel it, it is likely superficial and not likely to cause the problems we worry about with blood clots. A deep blood clot would usually cause leg pain and swelling, but you wouldn't be able to feel it.
Another possibility, especially if it is red, is that this is a developing abscess. Most of the times these need to be cut open and drained. I would recommend you see a doctor about it to help decide what it is and what you need to do about it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
