Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I ve had a small lump inside of my tongue for a few days now and its painful. I m not sure why its there. I have a tongue ring that I ve had for five years and never had an issue. when I got this little lump I took out the ring and its been really hurting. Its making it hard to eat because it s sensitive to pressure. There s no discoloration. And its directly in front of the hole where my ring goes. Not sure what to do or who to go to.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a painful lump infront of the hole of the tongue ring can be due to any sudden trauma to the tongue ring leading to inflammation of the soft tissues in the area causing a lump while it can also be initial formation of a traumatic ulcer that has not yet ulcerated.. I would suggest you to avoid wearing the tongue ring till the healing occurs.. You can apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the lump.. You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Avoid spicy and hard foods.. Do cool compresses over it.. In case if it shows no signs of improvement in a week consult an Oral Physican and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
