What Does A Painful Rash In The Left Armpit Indicate?
I was awakened with intense pain under my left armpit this a.m. An hour later I realized I had a rash. Iced. Took 1000 mg lysine. Pain subsided. Googled symptoms and found this might be related to shingles. M.D. apt. today and given RX for Valacyclovir hcl 1 gram to be taken 1 twice per day for 7 days. Because I was not in pain and rash had lightened I was told to wait until rash returned (pain also, I assume) and then take the meds. Take pic of rash and make appt. to see my own M.D. I know there is a 24 hour window for this to be effective. M.D. said there is evidence I could have shingles and if I do symptoms (pain and rash will return). I planned to wait until tomorrow to see what happens, but I am concerned about 24 hour window. I wonder if I should go ahead and start the Valacyclovir. Thank you.
This can be treated easily with topical antifungals like Clotrimazole. The blisters with fluid could also indicate contact dermatitis with chemicals like old spice which should be better avoided. Mostly related to sweating in the armpit.

What Does A Painful Rash In The Left Armpit Indicate?
Hi, From the image and description, it looks like a fungal infection called as tinea corporis. This can be treated easily with topical antifungals like Clotrimazole. The blisters with fluid could also indicate contact dermatitis with chemicals like old spice which should be better avoided. Mostly related to sweating in the armpit. Hope I have answered your query.
