Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a bout with what seems to have been a viral infection, not fully over it yet, after 4 days I finally was able to shower and shave. When I shaved I discovered a painful rash on my chin just under my mouth and extending just under my chin formed basically in a circle. I did have a fever with this. Suggestions? I am 60 and on no meds.
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern. As per your symptoms it can be either foliculitis or a simple herpes simplex.
You need to watch for it, if it just discharge the pinkish transparent exudase it is herpes and it don't needs to be treated, it will limit of its own.
If it is discharging pus it can be either abscess or a draining sinus. In case of later you must have your lower front tooth pain too. In both these cases you may need to a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin clavulinic acid for 5 days in consultation to your doctor or you can also provide your medical and allergic history so that we can prescribe you the same with proper dosage.
Hope my answer will be helpful to you, if you need further assistance write to us.
Regards Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
