What Does A Painful Spot On The Thumb Indicate?

I hit & busted the vein under my thumb on the inside of my right wrist on the corner of a windowsill as I vacuumed walls. A tiny pinpoint spot of blood under the skin popped about an inch away from injury & on the back & opposite side of where I hit my wrist. It hurts so bad. The pain is a close to 9 & it s moving up my arm on both sides.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the accident you had.

The pain you are feeling on the thumb on the inside of your right wrist is due to the hit. Apply cold compresses within the first 72 hours of the hit.

If later than 72 hours, then, should apply alternating warm and cold compresses to relieve the pressure due to accumulated blood (black spot).

Take oral analgesic (like paracetamol or ibuprofen).

If no improvement, or if you notice any sign for infection, should consult with your physician as might need prescription meds.

Wish fast recovery.
