What Does A Persistent Throbbing Sensation In The Head Indicate?
Good afternoon Dr Rynne - I had a weird thing happen on this past Saturday - while road biking with a couple friends. While coming up a hill - pushing fairly hard - the left top side of my head felt like it was being pressed down on by a vice - it went away after a little bit - I continued my ride with no physical issues - but since then, my head has hurt/throbbed on both side - front and back.
Overexertion may cause loss of electrolytes and dehydration which may cause headaches. In some cases, you may also get heatstroke which can be a very serious condition. I would advise you to make sure you keep yourself well hydrated and take plenty of electrolytes as well. The best way to safely substitute both water and electrolytes is by taking oral rehydration solutions in the pharmacy. You will need to take a considerable amount of these for a couple of days and also make sure you rest well. If no improvement with this or you notice any worsening please see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
