Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a dark pinkish vertical line in the back of my throat and it’s something I have never noticed before, ever. I’m wondering if it’s some sort of infection or irritation because it feels like i have something stuck back there. It doesn’t hurt to swallow but i do have asthma and that has gotten worse over the past few months. I guess my question is, is it just my asthma or could it be something more serious?
You have symptoms of the pink line in the throat which seems to be mainly due to bacterial infection, and it could be due to poor oral hygiene leading to strep throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you drink plenty of fluids and do warm saline rinses several times a day. Avoid hot sharp and spicy food substances. Take ibuprofen and proper course of antibiotics. You should take anti-inflammatory medications such as levocetrizine. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. The doctor may order a blood test or throat swab test to confirm the diagnosis. The doctor may prescribe broad-spectrum antibiotics like amoxicillin for at least two weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
