Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I completed breast cancer traetment in May 2016. I just had a pap smear that is clear, but positive for HPV. I am 64 years old and have been sexually active only with my husband for the past 21 years. Am I to understand that I got this virus from him? Are we to now use a condom for intercourse?
Yes, most probably, but you don't need to use condom because the virus is already there. And besides its very common in non immunized woman. Just get a pap smear every second year considering your age and if its normal. Nothing else is required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ankit
