What Does A Positive Report Of Fecal Lactoferrin Assay Test Indicate?
I had septic schock, pancreatitis, aphib, infected liver etc almost died 5 months ago. I am 69 177# female. I had my gall bladder removed 3 months ago as was determined a gall stone stuck in the pancreatic duct caused my problem. I have never been sick and in good health. Since my illness 5 months I lost 35#. I lost 10# and have constant diarrhea since I had my gall bladder out. I had a fecal lactoferrin assay test 3 days ago. it was positive. What is my possible problem?
Suggestive of inflammatory bowel disease. Based on the history of constant diarrhea and significant weight loss over the last 5 months and a positive fecal lactoferrin assay test you seem to be suffering from inflammatory bowel disease. Advise to consult a gastroenterologist for further evaluation and colonoscopy to rule out cancer of the colon as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
