What Does A Protruding Navel Indicate?

My belly button is a little protruded. It is a little red colored. Any dull aching I had with it seems to have pretty much all subsided. My belly button is firm but soft. Even though I am going to my doctor to examine it, what do you think the problems is? Like I said, any dull discomfort has now largely disappeared. Pease answer back.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Belly button may be protruded in person who has inflammation of umbilicus. Remember that it is also red.
Other cause may be fluid collection in abdomen. You need inspection and careful evaluation by local doctor.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
