What Does A Pulsating Sensation In Ear Canal Suggest?
For 3-5 months I have been hearing my heart beat inside my ear canal constantly. ENT visit reflected some hearing loss. MRI showed fluid in the left mastoid. From all I have read this fluid is not indicative of hearing my heart beat. Where is this sound coming from and how do I get rid of it? I also had an MRA done which was normal. In the past I have had ear infections along with ruptured ear drums that resulted in bleeding. all were treated
Hearing heart beat (pulsations) in ear canal can be due to fluid in mastoid. In addition, high blood pressure can also lead to such pulsating sound in ear. Thus, I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment of inner ear and mastoid and also to get blood pressure checked.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
