What Does A Raised Ridge On Scalp Along Center Of Forehead Suggest?

I have just noticed a ridge raised up on my scalp. It s along my center part above my forehead and about 2 1/2 long. Indented on both sides. Starting about a half inch from hairline. No pain of tenderness and it just showed up a few days ago. I am female, 53 and don t take any medications.

Hello,

Raised ridge on the scalp is due to cutis verticis gyrata, since you have just noticed it, it is likely to be secondary CVG. It may be due to certain diseases that cause changes in the scalp. There is no conservative treatment. Surgery is the only answer to reduce the ridges. It is a rare disease causing thickening of the scalp skin leading to folds & ridges.

In log run it may cause seizure disorder, mental issues, cataract, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a local GP, get a complete health check up and investigations done to detect any illness that needs treatment. Stay away from addictions if any. Take adequate rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
