What Does A Rash Between The Eyebrows Indicate?

Hi. I have had a rash between my eyebrows, and inner part of the eyelid for 2 years now. Also, my scalp has scabs, flakes and is very itchy. I thought it started from a scalp sunburn. But the ears are the worst. There is no wax, but dry scale and is so itchy all day and night to the point I cannot take it anymore. I am afraid I will damage the ear drum from constant scratching. This is all very depressing. I wait for your reply. Thankyou

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The condition that you describe sounds like it could be seborrheic dermatitis, which can cause scaling and itching over the scalp and face.

It is not always clear what causes this, but the sebaceous glands and the possible involvement of a certain fungus have been suspected.

The treatment for it would be a Ketoconazole shampoo which you can also use for the facial lesions.

You can also use a corticosteroid cream such as hydrocortisone to help with the itching. Hopefully, that would take care of it within a week or two.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
