What Does A Rash On An Infant’s Face Indicate?

My 8 month old granddaughter got a sudden rash on her face. my daughter noticed it when she got her out of her bath. she s a new mom and is worried because the baby has never done this before. we ruled out any foods because she s eaten the foods she had today before, The rash is not itchy and is not in her mouth. It s just her face.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

As you describe it might be an eczema
Eczema is red, itchy patches on the skin, often seen on the baby's chest, arms, legs, face, elbows, and behind the knees. It is caused by dry, sensitive skin, and sometimes allergies (although it can be difficult at this age to know what the trigger might be). Your doctor can determine if the rash looks like eczema and prescribe the appropriate treatment. In general, treatment consists of:
Using a very gentle soap
Using a gentle detergent and no fabric softener in baby's laundry
Using skin moisturizers
Applying a steroid cream (like hydrocortisone or even a stronger one
Usually the water make eczema worst so the less u wash it the better .

Kind regards
