What Does A Rash On The Chest Of A Child Indicate?
My 5 year old daughter has what looks like a rash on her chest. Small bumps with the skin a reddish color. It was not there when she went to bed but is there this morning. She is wearing pajamas she wore the night before. We have been putting a Vicks-like application on her chest for congestion. It is the same that we have used for years on her. She says it itches but is not feeling the need to scratch it. I ve only been observing it for about 30 minutes and it doesn t seem to be spreading.
Allergic reactions can develop with products that have been previously used as the body develops a reaction to it.
If it is going to spread, this can take hours so would not occur over a short period of time.
Since it is itchy then you may want to consider using an oral antihistamine such as benadryl, claritine, zyrtec or allegra. A topical agent can also be used such as hydrocortisone
These are over the counter medications
I hope this helps
