Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a red rash that comes up when I'm out in the Sun usually on my shoulders and chest area. I have heard it comes from the hair I don't know if this is true or not. I had a doctor prescribed me a cortizone 10 and another Ointment and I don't remember what the mixture was but it did help. do you have any suggestions?
Understanding your concern. Thanks for your query. The symptoms you mention in your query are clearly indicate a condition called polymorphic light eruptions. The condition occur due to hypersensitivity reaction to UV radiations of sun.
I would suggest you to apply sunscreen with SPF 30 before going outside and apply antioxidant cream at night .Try to avoid sun exposure as much as you can.You can also take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl .
If condition doesn't improve or get worse then consult dermatologist for proper evaluation to rule out some conditions likesolar utricaria ,doctor may prescribe hydrocortisone tablets ,corticosteroid tablets like prednisolone and hydrochloroquine which also known to be effective in this case.
Hope your concern has been resolved. get well soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
