Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a reddish brown spot on my left thigh. It started as a small circle about the size of a dime.. thought it was a small rash but ointment did nothing. Within the last month its grown to the size of a half dollar and now burns. Ive had this for like 6 months. I asked my primary physician and he didn t know what it was and told me nothing. Im a little worried as to the fact that it has gotten bigger and is now burning. Please help.
Since brown spot has grown bigger, it is a cause of concern. Get examined by a dermatologist. The dermatologist will do the required blood tests and biopsy of a small tissue to see if the spot is benign or malignant. You will be treated accordingly. If diabetic, control your blood glucose level at all cost. It is burning due to the friction of the skin with the clothes that your are wearing.
Wear loose fitting clothes that are soft and made of cotton. You can apply ointment clotrimazole on the affected area for relief. Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are fungal infection, jock itch, contact dermatitis, eczema, etc. Your treatment will depend on the diagnosis made. take care of your hygiene. Take bath regularly and change clothes daily.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
