Purple red mottled patched on Lower leg just under knee to the left for about four months, now also just appeared on both inner thighs and belly area, no swelling or pain, looks like when you ve put a hot water bottle on the area and leaves patches of red mottled pattern ....what could this be ? Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of red rash on the lower leg which can be due to many reasons like contact dermatitis, dry skin, hair folliculitis, eczema,and heat rash or sweat dermatitis.
Need not to worry. Apply ice pack to reduce redness and itchiness. Apply mupirocin ointment on affected area twice daily. Maintain good personal hygiene. Use a powder to avoid sweat collection and apply calamine lotion at the sites of the lesion. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like clindamycin , oral antifungal or antibacterial depending upon the diagnosis .
