Hi, My boy has red color birth scar on his head. He is 2.5 months old. But the scar is growing gradually growing and bloating a little. When we press the scar my child does not feel pain. Is it normal? Do I take my child to some child specialist or surgeon doctor? Any suggestions. Profound Regards, Sher
Hello I understand your concern regarding the red scar present on head of your child.
It seems to me it may be a hemangioma. Hemangioma is localized abnormal growth of blood vessels. It may start as birth mark increasing in size gradually. It do resolves by itself after some years without causing any problems.
It is necessary that you show your child to a paediatrician for proper physical examination. It has to be just observed by expert after regular intervals to monitor its progress. Report immediately if it bleeds or develops ulceration. Options like local corticosteroid injection, laser treatment or surgery may be considered for its regression or removal.
Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask any further doubt.
Thanks and regards.
