Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I tried to get something out of my eye earlier and I thinkI irritated the eye. My husband noticed that I had a red spot about one-half to one inch in diameter from the corner of my left eye to the edge of the eyeball. I splashed cool water on it. I don t have pain. Will it clear soon?
Removing a foreign body sometimes can make you damage your eye, usually, the cornea (which is the clear membrane on the front of the eye) may be scratched causing a corneal abrasion or laceration.
Which causes the blood to come out and look like red spot or redness in the eyes. With the right care, most corneal abrasions even large ones heal within 48 hours.
Topical antibiotics are commonly prescribed to prevent bacterial superinfection.
Chloramphenicol first-line ointment may be preferred, as it lubricates the cornea.
As these are prescribed medicines you need to visit your doctor who will also evaluate your eye condition and prescribe you the necessary medicine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Zia Ul Haq, General & Family Physician
