What Does A Round Black Spot In The Vision Indicate?

I periodically have a jagged, circular light enclosing a black spot in my field of vision lasting 2 - 7 minutes and usually producing a mild headache after it has ended. If I close my eyes, the jagged spot is still there, but it is difficult to tell if it is both eyes or only one.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The black spot in the vision field followed by headaches is probably due to migraine headaches. Migraine may cause different neurological symptoms before the headaches settle. generally this is not dangerous as long as the spot disappears after the headache has started.

If the spot does not disappear after the headache has started or you see more spots then previously then it might be better to see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
