What Does A Scaly Spot Above The Waistline Indicate?
I have a scaly spot just above my waistline. It s a bit darker than the surrounding skin. It doesn t itch. It s the size of a dime (maybe a bit larger). Probably fungus? I ve used Lotramin for a couple of weeks and color has lightened . . . Spot still there. Fungus maybe?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Scaly spots what you have noticed on waist line, which has become darker could be due to two reasons. 1. Fungal infection of the skin due to sweating in the region. 2. Allergic reaction (dermatitis) due to coming in contact with clothes (especially elastic of undergarments). Kindly do the following to overcome the same. 1. Apply Clotrimazole cream over the region twice daily after cleaning the area with mild antiseptic solution like Savlon. 2. Apply Hydrocortisone cream over the region at bed time. Change the brand of undergarments to one which doesn't have elastic in open but closed inside the cloth covering. Gradually, you should be able to overcome the problem. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
