What Does A Septated Cyst In Segment VI Of The Liver With Normal Portal Vein And Echotexture Indicate?
normal in size measuring 129mm in the mid clavicular line, with normal echotexture and echogenicity. There is a septated cyst in segment VI of the liver measuring 15 x 12 x 15mm without internal vascularity. The portal vein is normal in calibre measuring 9mm with hepatopetal flow
You have a septated cyst of the liver while echotexture & echogenicity is normal. Portal vein is also normal. The cyst is small & will not cause symptoms. Such cysts are commonly benign (non-cancerous). They can cause symptoms only when they grow larger in size, more than 4cms across, before that the treating doctor will suggest removal by surgery to avoid it from becoming malignant.
To prevent growth of cyst, avoid taking alcohol, smoking or food that are toxic for the liver. Take food that is good for the liver and take digestives and liver tonic.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
