I have what looks like a skintag on left hand side of my throat near the tonsils. It isnt sore but I can feel it when swallowing. It is a red colour similar to the rest of my throat. What could it be any advice would be appreciated as I am very concered.
As per your query, you have symptoms of skin tag in the throat which is mainly due to swelling in the tonsils and redness is due to infection.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as do warm saline gargles several times a day and avoid cold beverages.
You should keep your head elevated while sleeping. You should avoid eating spicy and sharp food substances. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination.
The doctor may order test like swab test and can do physical examination with laryngoscope. The Doctor may also prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with anti-inflammatory medications to subside the infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
